Frequently Asked Questions
01Do you accept insurance?
We are a private-pay practice and do not participate in insurance networks. We are happy to provide a superbill after each visit, which you may submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
02How do I get started?
You can contact our office to schedule a brief initial phone consultation or an intake appointment. We'll help determine the best next step based on your needs.
03What types of patients do you see?
We provide psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. Many of our patients are students, professionals, and families seeking diagnostic clarity and ongoing treatment.
04What ages do you treat?
We see patients across the lifespan, from early childhood through adulthood.
05What types of mental health conditions or symptoms do you treat?
We treat a broad range of psychiatric conditions and symptoms across the lifespan, including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, ADHD, bipolar and mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and trauma-related conditions, as well as adjustment-related difficulties impacting school, work, or relationships.
06What is the format of an initial psychiatric evaluation for children and adolescents?
For children and adolescents, the evaluation often includes time spent with the child or adolescent alone, with parents or caregivers alone, and together as a family. When helpful, the visit can be split into two sessions for a more comfortable and thorough process. The structure is flexible and tailored to what is most helpful for understanding the full picture.
07How is a psychiatrist different from a therapist?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose conditions, prescribe medication, and provide therapy. What is unique about our practice is that we offer both therapy and medication management together, allowing for integrated and coordinated care. We also consider medical and neurological factors that may contribute to symptoms.
08How do I know if my child needs a psychiatrist?
Whether you're a parent worried about your child, a teen struggling to make sense of things, or an adult feeling overwhelmed, it's common to wonder if what you're experiencing is "enough" to seek help. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. That's what we do together. If your child is struggling with anxiety, sadness, irritability, mood changes, behavioral issues, difficulty at school, difficulty with friendships or relationships, or anything that feels outside the norm and isn't improving, a psychiatric evaluation can help clarify what's going on and what kind of support would help most. You don't need a referral. A complimentary 15-minute consultation is a good first step.
09Do you offer both medication management and therapy?
Yes. We provide medication management and also integrate psychotherapy when clinically necessary. Treatment is individualized based on each patient's needs.
10Do you work with families?
Yes. When appropriate, we include family members in treatment to support understanding, communication, and care planning.
11Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. We offer both in-person and telehealth appointments, depending on clinical appropriateness and patient preference.
12Do you see patients outside of regular business hours?
Yes. We offer evening and after-school appointments.
13Do you offer a complimentary consultation?
Yes. We offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions, share what's going on, and get a sense of whether we're the right fit for you.
